Uganda is just entering its rainy season. The water tanks have begun collecting water and are working great! The church is very thankful to have the tanks and for the role St. John LaLande played in helping acquire them.
Thank you!

Bishop Kirabo urged the newly ordained priests to abide by vows by spreading the gospel of God and guiding Christians to be stronger in their faith.
“You have been called by God to serve him through spreading his gospel across the globe and the field you have entered is lifetime. I therefore urge you to always pray to God for guidance and wisdom as you execute your work,” he said.
Bishop Kirabo posted the newly ordained priests to different parishes in the diocese. He encouraged parents to guide their children to become God’s servants saying there is still a gap.
Speaking on behalf of the ordained, Rev. Fr. John Mugenyi commended their parents for the support both financial and spiritual saying it was a long journey and by the grace of God, to attain such position.
These are some of the water tanks which are under construction using the money we got through Father George. We thank you so much Father and the entire community of St. John Lalande.
God bless you abundantly!

HOIMA DIOCESE TO ORDAIN PRIESTS AND DEACONS
RELIGION- The Christians in Hoima diocese are gearing up for the ordination of priests and deacons. A total of 14 deacons will be ordained priests at Bujumbura cathedral in Hoima town on July 7.
In addition, the diocese’s bishop, Vincent Kirabo, will also ordain 11 seminarians as deacons during the event. The deacons and seminarians who will be ordained hail from various parishes in the diocese that covers Hoima, Masindi, Buliisa, Kibaale, Kakumiro, Kagadi and Kiryandongo districts.
The function is planned to kick off at 8:00am and end at 2:00pm. The Hoima Diocese External Residents Association (HOIDERA) was selected by the (diocese) to lead liturgy during the function.
The HOIDERA president, Taddeo Atuhura, said the association members have been engaged in intense preparations for the event since they were put in charge of liturgy for the upcoming priestly and deaconate ordination ceremony.
He said the association will also produce a souvenir magazine to mark the occasion and urged Christians to turn up in big numbers to be part of the event.
“As HOIDERA, we feel blessed to have been selected to animate at this year’s priestly and deaconate ordination. We are now set and the choir members are putting final touches to the preparations. We invite all people to come and take part in the celebrations,” Atuhura said.
HOIDERA is an umbrella body of Christians who live outside the diocese. The association hosted Kirabo at its home in Gayaza, a Kampala suburb, in April this year, during the bishop’s annual pastoral visit outside the diocese.
The previous ordination took place in the diocese in July last year. Nine deacons were ordained into priesthood. A total of 11 seminarians were ordained deacons.
In 2016, 15 deacons were ordained into priesthood while 11 seminarians were (ordained) deacons in the diocese. Kirabo said the new priests will boost the army of the church and asked them to perform their duties in accordance with the church laws and customs. Once they are ordained, the bishop will deploy them to different parishes of the diocese.
I am called Namuga Sylvia a student of Senior Four at St.Kirigwaijo Secondary School.
Piggery project is the project which involves the rearing of pigs.
I became a practioner of piggery project in 2013 when it was set up at our School St.Kirigwaijo S.S by Fr.Ssebaduka George William in conjunction with Fr.Kirigwaijo Anatoli with an aim of helping some of us poor students raise money for school fees.
Surely piggery project has contributed towards my success in terms of education where I am so far. I have acquired skills in rearing pigs for example feeding and vaccinating skills. This has also helped me to gain more knowledge about agriculture as a subject.
In addition, I have been helped in terms of getting school requirements which have been difficult for me to get from my parents. Many times I have been reporting late at school after some weeks due to lack of essential school requirements.
I have been able to set up my own piggery project at home. This helps me to get money and buy some school requirements for myself.
I have gained confidence since the project has been carried out in a high population of St.Kirigwaijo Secondary school where many fellow students and staff members come, look at the project, appreciate our efforts and also give some advice.
However we have met some challenges in running this project. For instance some pigs have got stunted in growth due to unbalanced diet given to them which has greatly reduced on their size. Attack by diseases such as swine fever that claims a number of pigs
Expensive drugs which at times are unaffordable thus leading to the death of some pigs.
Destruction of neighbours’ gardens as pigs sometimes move out of the pig Sty since the timber is eaten up by termites hence causing conflicts with the neighbors.
In conclusion, I thank God that I was selected to be among those to participate in this self help project that I hope will take us up to the end of our studies at the University.
More than two thirds of the country’s poor people are small farmers. They are scattered all over the country. They make up approximately 80% of the population. Although efforts have been made to reduce rural poverty, urban areas have experienced a significantly greater reduction in poverty than the countryside. In the past decade, poverty has declined by a rate of 30% in urban areas but of only 10% in rural areas. … Learn More
